A Must-See in Osaka!
Osaka Castle Main Tower
Before visiting Osaka Castle Main Tower, let's explore its history! Toyotomi Hideyoshi wanted to build a large castle suitable for rulers to reside in, so he constructed Osaka Castle on the site of Ishiyama Honganji Temple in 1583. After Hideyoshi's death, the government was transferred to the Tokugawa family, and Osaka Castle was destroyed in the Osaka Natsuno-jin in 1615. Osaka Castle was rebuilt over about 10 years, and although the castle tower was lost due to lightning in 1665, the current castle tower was rebuilt in 1931 with the enthusiasm of the citizens and was designated as a registered tangible cultural property in 1997!
Visit the Osaka Castle Main Tower, which has a rich history, and take time to learn about Japan!
