From Chiang Mai: Chiang Rai White & Blue & Red Temples and Lalitta Cafe Day Tour

Chiang Rai's three temples and the Lalitta Cafe

This small-group tour of about 13 hours (up to 12 people) departs Chiang Mai between 7:00 and 7:45 AM, visits Chiang Rai's White, Blue and Red Temples and the Lalitta Cafe, and returns around 8:00 PM. Depending on your option, meet at Starbucks at MAYA Shopping Center or at Wat Phra Singh, or get picked up from your hotel, then travel by air-conditioned van with an English-speaking guide. A Thai lunch, admission fees and a bottle of water are included.

Stop at Mae Kachan Hot Spring and the Long Neck village

After about 1.5 hours' drive from Chiang Mai, arrive at Mae Kachan Hot Spring. It is not for swimming, but you can stretch your legs, use the restroom and take a break.

If you booked the Long Neck option, visit the Karen Long Neck village to learn about their community and culture. Without the option, you can still visit by paying the 300 baht entrance fee to the guide, or wait at the village entrance for about 30 minutes.

Explore the White Temple and the Blue Temple

Drive another 1.5 hours to Wat Rong Khun, known as the White Temple, Chiang Rai's signature landmark with intricate white decorations. Then enjoy a Thai lunch with your group for about an hour.

Next, head to the Blue Temple, Wat Rong Suea Ten, to admire its blue roof and facade with ornate gold details, and relax for a while in the peaceful surroundings.

See the giant Buddha at the Red Temple and visit Lalitta Cafe

At the last temple, the Red Temple (Wat Huay Pla Kang), see the nine-tiered pagoda, the giant Buddha statue and the 12 structures surrounding it.

The tour ends at the photogenic Lalitta Cafe. Admission is included, so explore freely and, if you like, order food or drinks (at your own expense) before returning to Chiang Mai by minivan.
