BESTThere were paintings by various artists, and it was nice to be able to see various water lily works at the Monet exhibition hall in the basement.

Meet the works of the master Monet,
Marmottan Museum
It can be said that there is no museum that owns as many Monet paintings as the Musée Marmottan Monet. You can admire about 100 of Monet's masterpieces in one place. In addition, it is great to see it along with several works by masters representing Impressionism.
Works by Gauguin, Renoir, and Degas were brought from Monet's personal collection. Admission to temporary exhibitions is also included.
Marmottan Museum Story

The Marmottan Monet Museum building was formerly the mansion of Christophe Kellermann (1737~1820), Duke of Valmy, a town in eastern France, and commander of the French army, where he enjoyed hunting and resting in the Bois de Boulogne. In 1882, businessman and art collector Jules Marmottan purchased the mansion and used it as a residence and art storage, and various works began to be collected.
A museum sponsored by Monet's son

The Marmottan Museum began to collect Monet's works in earnest with the support of Michel Monet, the second son of French Impressionist painter Claude Monet. In 1996, he donated the paintings he inherited from his father to the Art Society, and the Society sent the works back to the Marmottan Museum, where Monet's works began to be exhibited, and later changed its name to the 'Marmottan Monet Museum' as it acquired the most Monet works.
A brief look inside

The museum has two floors above ground and one basement floor. The basement floor is a special exhibition room displaying Monet's works, and the 1st and 2nd floors display furniture from the Napoleonic era and works by Impressionist painters such as Renoir and Gauguin.
The Marmottan Monet Museum also houses over 300 Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist works. You can see paintings, drawings, sculptures, miniatures, furniture, bronze works, and ceramics collected by Paul Marmottan, who was interested in works from the time when Napoleon I ruled.
