The Palace of Versailles & Gardens
“Magnificence” perfectly describes the Palace of Versailles. One glance at this grand royal residence makes it clear why it is considered one of the most spectacular palaces in the world.
No trip to France is complete without exploring the lavish interiors of Versailles and visiting Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet. The palace’s grandeur is most vividly displayed in the Hall of Mirrors, a 75-meter-long gallery lined with statues and busts. Seventeen arched windows face 21 mirrors each, reflecting light through a total of 357 mirrors and creating an unforgettable visual experience.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Palace of Versailles is one of France’s most visited attractions and an absolute must-see.
How to Get to the Palace of Versailles

The easiest way to reach Versailles is by taking the RER C line, which directly connects central Paris, including the Musée d’Orsay, to Versailles. A popular route is to visit the Musée d’Orsay first, then continue on to Versailles.
For a smoother journey, we recommend using the Citymapper app to check train schedules and arrival times. Once you arrive at the Versailles station, the palace is just a short walk away.
Different Opening Hours by Area

The Palace of Versailles is made up of several areas, each with different operating hours. The Palace and Trianon Estate are closed on Mondays, with the Palace opening at 9:00 AM and the Trianon Estate opening at 12:00 PM on operating days. The park and gardens are open daily, but access to the gardens may be restricted on days when Musical Gardens or Fountain Shows are held. As event schedules vary by season, it is recommended to check the exact operating details in advance for your planned visit date.
Multilingual Audio Guide

Inside the Palace of Versailles, you can enjoy a free multilingual audio guide by downloading the official Palace app. (WAUG admission tickets include access to the downloadable audio guide.) Alternatively, on-site audio guides are also available.
Following in the Footsteps of Marie Antoinette

While Louis XIV built Versailles, Marie Antoinette shaped it to reflect her own lifestyle. Her bedroom is one of the most fascinating spaces in the palace. From 1770 to 1789, it was fully open to the public, allowing courtiers to witness everything from her morning routine to royal childbirths. Learning about her life makes the visit even more engaging.
Strolling Through the Grand Trianon

Marie Antoinette was the first queen to own private property when Louis XVI gifted her the Grand Trianon. She later renovated it in the fashionable Anglo-Chinese style. The surrounding grounds are perfect for a peaceful walk and offer insight into her personal taste.
Don’t Miss Photo Spots in the Gardens

From afar, Versailles is grand, but up close, the gardens reveal extraordinary detail. They are filled with stunning photo spots, especially on days without fountain shows. Skipping the gardens means missing a major part of the Versailles experience.
