Have a 1,300 years of history,
Visit Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey

Located in northern France, Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is an iconic travel destination, which has a 1,300-year history as abbey. In 708, the bishop of Obers had a dream in which Michel Angel showed him a vision of a chapel perched on a rocky islet. The bishop ordered the construction of a small chapel on the 80m rocky islet, which eventually became Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey. If you are looking for a magical experience that feels like diving into a Disney-animated castle where all the Disney characters seem to come to life, visit Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey. It is a mystical charm that visitors have loved for centuries.

Once in your lifetime,
a must-visit Mont-Saint Michel Abbey

In 708, the Mont-Saint Michel Abbey was built under the order of Bishop Michel. Today, it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world. When you arrive at Mont-Saint Michel Abbey, you will feel like you've stepped into a fairytale. It is located on a rocky island in Normandy, offering magnificent seashore views. If you don't have a guide, don't worry; you can register for a group guided tour at the entrance with other tourists.

You might have seen at least once somewhere!

You may not have heard of Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, but you may be familiar with its image as a castle. It has appeared in various works of art. You may have seen it in Disney's animated movie "Tangled" as the kingdom's backdrop or in the Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki's "Laputa: Castle in the Sky".

If you plan to visit Paris, Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is a must-see attraction along with the Eiffel Tower during your trip to France.

How to get there

The Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is located quite far away from the Paris Center. As a result, many visitors choose to reserve a tour for convenience. The tour typically includes stops at Étretat, Honfleur, and Mont-Saint-Michel, allowing for a comprehensive and enjoyable experience. We highly recommend opting for a tour to visit Mont Saint-Michel Abbey, as you will have the opportunity to explore the area with a knowledgeable guide, making your trip all the more worthwhile.

Nevertheless, would I like to meet in your own style? Let's introduce you to the easiest and most convenient transportation way.

1. Reserve an OUIGO train ticket from Paris-Montparnasse to Rennes. (Receive your tickets immediately upon booking through SNCF).

2. Take the train to Rennes Station and board the Kiolis Armor bus.

Kiolis Armor bus is scheduled for departure and arrival time, so book your train ticket based on the bus schedule. The bus is an hour long. Our suggested routes will make it much easier for you to meet Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey.

Don't miss out on Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey
night view!

If you want to see Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey in all its glory, we recommend visiting at night. The view is breathtaking after sunset till night, and it's the best time to experience its magnificence. Take advantage of this stunning sight!

Here's some tips you should know

Even though it takes about 10 hours to travel from Paris City center to Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, it is definitely worth visiting! If you plan to stay overnight, we highly recommend the Le Relais Saint Michel Hotel, which offers a stunning view of the abbey right in front of it.

Please keep in mind that the temperature in Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is lower than in Paris City, so make sure to dress warmly. Also, there are many mosquitoes in the area, so it's a good idea to bring mosquito repellent. If you prefer to visit separately, we suggest arriving at Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey by 5:00 PM to enjoy the sunset and experience the beauty of the abbey at night.
