This shared 2-day, 1-night tour from Malang takes you to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Mount Bromo in East Java. On day one you walk along the river with a local guide down to the base of Tumpak Sewu, known as the 'thousand waterfalls'. After a night at accommodation in the Bromo area, you ride a 4WD jeep early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the Tengger caldera, then hike up to the rim of the smoking Bromo crater. One night of accommodation, breakfast and entrance tickets for Bromo and Tumpak Sewu are included, and the tour runs in small groups of up to 12 people.

You are picked up in the morning from your hotel in Malang or Malang Kota Baru Station and travel in an air-conditioned car or minivan. This is a shared tour with other travelers: day one covers Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, and day two covers the Mount Bromo sunrise and crater before the tour ends.
Head down to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall with a local guide
After pickup, a drive of about 3–4 hours brings you to Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. Following a briefing from a local guide, you trek along the river down to the base of the falls. The waterfall visit takes about 3 hours.
After the waterfall, you drive 3–5 hours depending on traffic to your accommodation in the Bromo area. You can stop at restrooms, convenience stores or restaurants on the way, but food and purchases are at your own expense.
Ride a jeep to the Mount Bromo sunrise and crater
Early on day two, a 4WD jeep takes you about 45 minutes to the Mount Bromo sunrise spot. After watching the sunrise over the Tengger caldera, you hike with the guide to the rim of the active Bromo crater and look down into the smoking crater. After breakfast at the accommodation you return to Malang, and the Surabaya drop-off option ends in Surabaya.
