Program
Ride a jeep across Mount Semeru's volcanic terrain
From Pronojiwo, the jeep departs at 5:30 AM. With the Malang or Surabaya options, you first travel by car to Pronojiwo and then start the tour. Around 6:00 AM you reach the first stop, Teras Semeru, look around, and then head into the bumpy volcanic terrain at the foot of Mount Semeru by 4WD jeep. The driver does the driving, so just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Meet lava fields and fresh water at Kali Kebo
Around 6:30 AM, drive off-road to Kali Kebo and take in the grand volcanic landscape. Around 7:00 AM, enjoy a light splash in the cool waters of Semeru. It is not a full swim, but you can feel the freshness of the early morning.
Visit Taungan and the pine forest before returning
Around 7:30 AM, move to Taungan or Gunung Bayi, and around 8:00 AM explore the peaceful Pinus (pine) forest. Around 8:30 AM, ride the jeep back to base camp, and around 9:00 AM the tour ends with drop-off in Pronojiwo or a transfer to Malang or Surabaya.
※ To see the sunrise you need to depart even earlier; if you depart after breakfast, you will not see the sunrise.
