Explore the historic temples
of Lampang and Lamphun in a day
This private tour of about 9 hours picks you up from your Chiang Mai accommodation and takes you to Lampang and Lamphun in an air-conditioned vehicle. With an English-speaking guide, visit historic northern Thai temples including Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, Wat Phra That Hariphunchai and Wat Chamadevi, with a lunch break along the way (meal at your own expense). At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your accommodation in Chiang Mai.
Discover the Lanna-style Wat Phra That Lampang Luang

Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is regarded as a fine example of Lanna architecture in Thailand. Within the temple complex, a history museum, a huge brick gate, an intricately painted viharn, sandy courtyards and stupas made of bronze and copper sit in a peaceful atmosphere.
Ride Lampang's famous horse-drawn carriages

Lampang is known in Thailand as the city of horse-drawn carriages, which still operate today. If you like, take a 15 to 30 minute town tour by carriage along the Wang River or past the city's main sights. The carriage ride costs 500 THB for 2 people and is paid on site.
Visit Hariphunchai and Chamadevi temples in Lamphun

In Lamphun, visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, a 9th-century temple complex by the river. It is the largest and oldest temple complex in Lamphun and takes its name from the Mon kingdom city that ruled northern Thailand from the 9th to 13th centuries.
Next, head to Wat Chamadevi. Its stupa, surrounded by arched niches holding 60 Buddha images, is said to contain the remains of Queen Chamadevi. You can also see the unique square stepped pyramid-shaped chedi built in the Dvaravati period.
