Stop at a hot spring, then the White Temple

On the way to Chiang Rai, stop at Mae Kachan Hot Spring to stretch your legs, use the restroom or buy snacks.

Your first main stop is the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun), Chiang Rai's most famous landmark. Spend about 1.5 hours admiring its unique white architecture, delicate carvings and symbolic artworks.

Visit Baan Dam Museum and Lalitta Cafe

The Baan Dam Museum (Black House) consists of dark wooden buildings full of art and antiques reflecting the artist's vision of life and death. Then relax at Lalitta Cafe, surrounded by gardens and fountains, with khao soi and coffee (food and drinks at your own expense).

See Wat Huay Pla Kang and the Blue Temple

Visit Wat Huay Pla Kang, known for its giant white statue and pagoda overlooking the countryside, and the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten), famous for its deep blue interior, golden details and murals, before returning to Chiang Mai.
