This full-day tour explores the Mae Wang area southwest of Chiang Mai. Swim at Mae Wang Waterfall, spend time with rescued elephants at the no-riding Pon Elephant Thailand, and float down the Mae Wang River on a bamboo raft. The whole tour takes about 9 hours including travel, with an authentic Thai lunch, fruit, and water included.

Cool off at Mae Wang Waterfall

Depart from your hotel or the office in Chiang Mai and head southwest past local villages, farmland, hill tribe villages, and green rice fields. At Mae Wang Waterfall, relax for about an hour in the shady natural surroundings and cool off in the water.

Meet elephants at Pon Elephant Thailand

At Pon Elephant Thailand, set deep in the forest, your guide introduces the history of Asian elephants and the center's mission of rescuing and caring for elephants based on ethical principles. Get close to rescued elephants and hand-feed them bananas and other fruit.

Walk through the jungle with the elephants, observing how they forage and interact as families, and watch them bathe in the river up close. The elephant activity lasts about 2.5–3 hours and is never rushed.

Float down the Mae Wang River on a bamboo raft

Finally, board a bamboo raft and float down the Mae Wang River for about 40–50 minutes. Relax amid gentle currents and forest scenery, then return to your accommodation in Chiang Mai.
