Ishigaki Island Stargazing Jungle Tour: A Natural Planetarium (WAUG Exclusive)

My child wanted to do it, so our family of three participated together. Our guide was Kousei, who spoke English well and explained various things while we were in the vehicle. (The rental boots and vehicles are not very clean... Since they are used by many people, you should expect that and look bleary-eyed... hehe) We wore long sleeves and long pants, and surprisingly... there weren't any bugs or mosquitoes. ^^ The weather was great, so the stars were really visible, and the Milky Way was beautiful to watch while listening to the sound of the waves in the dark. The day we went (October 13th), there were a lot of tourists, so there were a lot of people from other groups. Maybe that's why... we couldn't see many living creatures. We could see crickets, spiders, birds, and maybe a baby hermit crab. But our guide was very diligent in looking for them, and he went deep into the water by himself and found a huge crab! Thanks to him, we were all able to enjoy the observation. If you're lucky, you might be able to see various creatures like sea snakes and lizards. Nature doesn't always do what we want, so don't expect too much and hope for the best. It was a wonderful memory for our family. Thank you. ^^

I wore long sleeves and long pants because they told me to, but I was the only one wearing them..^^ Some people wore skirts, but since you'll be moving around a bit, it's better to wear comfortable clothes. Pack light. They give you rain boots there, but there was water in them and the chairs were also wet, so it's better to wear clothes that you'll be throwing away or planning to wash. You can see coconut crabs, hermit crabs, turtles, and other interesting creatures whose names I don't know. I mainly took videos, so there aren't many pictures. If the weather is good, you can even see stars like the Summer Triangle. The course is to gather at the island terminal, drive for about 30 minutes, explore the jungle for about an hour, and then return. We gathered at 7:30 PM and arrived at the terminal around 10 PM. If you want to see interesting creatures and stars at the same time, I recommend it! I was very satisfied!

I went on a jungle tour on the first night of Ishigaki Island. After meeting the guide at the meeting point and moving to the jungle by car, I received boots and a flashlight and began the full-scale exploration. It is literally a jungle. It used to be an area under the sea, so the entire land is made up of coral, making it a unique terrain. During the exploration, I was able to see various creatures, such as strange plants like the 'Devil Fruit' and crabs, and I was amazed by the guide climbing up the rocks to find and show me the creatures. The explanations were very detailed, so I didn't have a moment to get bored. After passing through the jungle and moving to the beach, I turned off all the flashlights and looked at the stars. It was so beautiful that I was speechless, and the guide took a picture of me📸 and sent it to me via messenger later. On the way back, he took a picture under the umbrella-shaped leaf from Totoro, and thanks to his meticulous attention to detail, it was a truly special experience.☺️ Above all!!! Thanks to the guide's warm smile and cheerful energy, my Ishigaki Island trip started off pleasantly. I was so happy to meet that guide again on other tours after that, and I think I will remember him for a long time🏝️

I booked a night tour in Ishigaki because it reminded me of the one I took in Kota Kinabalu during my honeymoon, and it was wonderful in a different way. At first, I was a bit anxious seeing people swarming onto the bus in front of Ishigaki Port holding boots, following instructions, as it felt like heading to a construction site at dawn. However, the place the bus arrived at was a jungle where lizards, turtles, and crabs appeared completely out of the blue. Once you push through the jungle, the ocean comes into view, and you can even see the Milky Way—the romance was insane. It was the same moving experience as when I saw the stars in Mongolia, but with the sound of crashing waves acting as ASMR. My husband and I were worried at first, thinking we were going to a labor market, but by the end, we returned completely moved.
