Hida Takayama Street

Hida Takayama is most famous for its old streetscape (古い街並み) where you can feel the atmosphere of Japan's Edo period, with traditional houses and old shops. Starting with the famous Japanese snack Mitarashi Dango, it is a street where you can enjoy a pleasant time looking at the old streetscape with snacks such as sweets and mochi, antique shops, stationery shops, and post offices.

Takayama Jinya (高山陣屋), the old government office, is also a great tourist attraction worth visiting, so I recommend checking it out!

The very famous Shirakawago

At Shirakawago, a World Heritage Site, you can see a uniquely shaped house. It is an architectural style called "Gasshozukuri," which is named for its resemblance to two hands clasped together (gassho). It is said to be a method devised to endure the snow that falls in winter, and it is well preserved to this day, so it is also registered as a World Heritage Site.
