For those who want to travel all over Fukuoka, I recommend the JR Kyushu Fukuoka Wide Pass. With the Fukuoka Wide Pass, you can travel all over Fukuoka, including Hakata and Kurume, on the JR Kyushu Line. In particular, the Wide Pass allows you to use most limited express trains except for Shinkansen, including the Sonic Limited Express, Kirameki Limited Express, and Kamome Limited Express, making it really fast and convenient.

Are you eligible to use it?

All nationalities except Japanese can use it. All foreign travelers from countries other than Japan who are visiting Japan for tourism purposes with a short-term stay visa can use it.

Introducing the available sections

From Fukuoka Hakata Station, you can use the Kokura, Noseki, and Yukuhashi sections to the east, Tosu, Kurume, and Omuta to the south, and Meinohama and Karatsu sections to the west.

All destinations included in the map above can be visited with this one pass, so it's a good idea to check the areas you plan to visit in advance.

What types of trains can I ride?

You can easily ride all the trains operated by JR Kyushu, except for the Shinkansen and some tourist express trains (express trains with all seats reserved). You can also ride the Sonic train, which we often ride when going to Kokura.

Are you moving to Karatsu?

If you are going to Karatsu, there is something you must know. The JR trains to Karatsu and the Fukuoka City Subway run directly to each other, so you should first take the Fukuoka City Subway.

When you arrive in Karatsu, you will need to show your Fukuoka transportation card or pass along with the wide pass at the ticket gate, so please be aware of this in advance and prepare so you don't get flustered!
