the Can Gio mangroves and Monkey Island

This tour of about 9 hours covers Monkey Island, the Hoa Ca crocodile reserve, the Rung Sac revolutionary base and a seafood market in the Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. You meet your guide in District 1 at 7:30 a.m. or gather at the travel agency office, enjoy a scenic drive, and cross to Can Gio on the Binh Khanh ferry. An English-speaking guide, round-trip ferry, entrance fees and a set lunch are included.

Meet the monkeys and crocodiles

Walk around Monkey Island, where more than 1,000 monkeys live in their natural habitat, and see them up close for photos. Then move on to the Hoa Ca crocodile reserve to observe crocodiles at close range.

Trek through the mangroves to the Rung Sac base

A shaded trek of about 25 minutes through the mangrove forest leads to the Rung Sac revolutionary base, a strategic position for the 10th Special Forces during the war. Explore the bunkers, kitchen and medical huts and learn about their history. You can also choose a 10-minute canoe ride to the base, but the canoe fee is not included.

Enjoy a southern Vietnamese lunch and a seafood market

Around 13:00 to 13:30, have lunch of southern Vietnamese dishes at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a lively seafood market to see fresh catches from local waters, which you can also buy if you like. After the market, return to Saigon by bus, arriving in the city center around 15:30 to 16:00.
