Yogyakarta Borobudur Summit Climb & Prambanan Private Tour - Pawon & Mendut Temples

Borobudur and Prambanan:
two of Java's World Heritage temples in one day

This private tour of about 10 to 12 hours departs from your hotel in Yogyakarta and visits Borobudur Temple, Pawon Temple, Mendut Temple and Prambanan Temple in turn. You travel comfortably in an air-conditioned vehicle, and a local guide shows you around inside Borobudur and Prambanan. Entrance tickets for all temples and the Borobudur summit climb ticket are included.

Climb to the top of Borobudur and see its 72 stupas

After pickup, a drive of about 1.5 hours takes you to the Buddhist temple of Borobudur in the Magelang area. At this 9th-century temple you spend about 2 hours with a guide, learning about its history and philosophy.

Climb the 100 steps to the top to see the stories carved in the reliefs and the 72 stupas up close. Each stupa holds a life-size seated Buddha statue.

Visit Pawon Temple and Mendut Temple

After Borobudur, spend about 30 minutes at each of two small Buddhist temples nearby, Pawon and Mendut. Seen from above, they stand in a straight line with Borobudur. Inside Mendut Temple you can see an old Buddha statue 3 m tall. You then take a break of about 1 hour at a local restaurant (meals at your own expense).

Admire statues of Hindu gods at Prambanan

Drive about 1.5 hours past rice fields and salak fruit plantations to the Hindu temple of Prambanan. On a guided walk of about 2 hours, learn about the era of the Hindu dynasty and explore chambers with statues of Hindu gods such as Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. At the end of the tour, your driver takes you back to your hotel.

With a sunrise option, the itinerary adds sunrise viewing from Setumbu Hill or from inside Borobudur Temple.
