and see the highlights of the Dieng Plateau

After pickup from your hotel in Yogyakarta between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM, you travel about 3 hours 20 minutes by air-conditioned vehicle to the Dieng Plateau in Central Java. Starting with sunrise at Sikunir Hill, you visit the Batu Pandang Ratapan Angin viewpoint, Telaga Warna, Sikidang Crater and the Arjuna Temple complex, accompanied by an English-speaking guide and driver. After the tour, you drive about 4 hours back to Yogyakarta.

Greet the sunrise at Sikunir Hill

A short hike takes you up Sikunir Hill, where you spend about 1.5 hours waiting for sunrise. Capture the sun rising over a landscape of volcanoes, including Mount Sindoro and Mount Sumbing.

See a viewpoint and a lake of changing colors

From the Batu Pandang Ratapan Angin viewpoint, you can look down on the twin lakes of Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon. Then explore Telaga Warna up close, a lake whose sulfur content makes it appear in shades from emerald green to yellow. There is time to stroll along the shore and take photos.

Explore Sikidang Crater and the Arjuna Temples

At Sikidang Crater, see the geothermal activity of the Dieng Plateau up close, with bubbling mud pools and steaming vents. Finally, walk among the Arjuna Temple complex, ancient Javanese Hindu ruins dating back to around the 7th century. If you wish, you can also stop at a tea plantation on the slopes of Mount Sindoro.
