This full-day boat tour picks you up from your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter or on Cat Ba Island and takes you around Lan Ha Bay. Instead of a large cruise ship, you travel in a small group on a route through the quieter parts of Lan Ha Bay, passing Cai Beo floating village and limestone islands in unusual shapes. Kayak through a lagoon in a protected area and swim at secluded Ba Trai Dao Beach. On the way back, make fresh spring rolls on board while watching the sun set over the bay.

Program

Depart from Hanoi or Cat Ba
and explore Lan Ha Bay by boat all day

After pickup from your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter or Cat Ba Town, you travel to Ben Beo Pier on Cat Ba Island and spend the day exploring Lan Ha Bay on a small-group boat. Hanoi departures are picked up around 5:30 AM for a bus ride of about 3.5 hours, while Cat Ba departures are picked up around 8:30 AM for a 10-minute ride to the pier.

At Ben Beo Pier, the guide hands out the Cat Ba archipelago bay route sightseeing tickets, which are included in the tour price. An English and Vietnamese-speaking guide accompanies you, and the boat returns to the pier around 4:15 PM.

Pass Cai Beo floating village
and kayak in a protected lagoon

Board the boat around 9:00 AM and cruise among limestone pillars rising from the sea. You pass Cai Beo fishing village, one of the most traditional floating villages in northern Vietnam, and karst formations shaped like chopsticks or seals.

Around 10:30 AM, kayak through a lagoon in a designated protected area of Lan Ha Bay. The exact kayaking spot may vary depending on the tide.

Enjoy lunch on board
and swim at Ba Trai Dao Beach

Around 12:30 PM, the boat anchors at Ong Cam Island for a Vietnamese lunch freshly prepared on board by the local crew. Vegetarian options are available.

After lunch, the boat continues to the Ba Trai Dao area. Around 2:30 PM, swim and jump off the boat at quiet, unspoiled Ba Trai Dao Beach, and look around the lagoons and arches nearby.

Around 3:15 PM, on the way back to the port, make fresh spring rolls with the local crew while watching the sunset over Lan Ha Bay.

The boat reaches the port around 4:15 PM, and a bus takes you back to your hotel in Cat Ba Town. Guests on Hanoi return options take the bus back to Hanoi.

End of tour:
The boat returns to Ben Beo Pier around 4:15 PM and a bus takes you back to your hotel in Cat Ba Town. The "Hanoi pickup - return to Cat Ba" option ends in Cat Ba Town (168 Đường 1/4), and the Hanoi return option ends in Hanoi.
