From the top, you can take in the 12 avenues radiating out from the arch and a sweeping view across Paris. See up close the relief sculptures and the names of battles and generals on the arch Napoleon commissioned after his victory at Austerlitz, and learn about the monument's meaning in the exhibition inside. You can visit at any time during opening hours on your selected date.

From the terrace at the top of the 50-meter-tall Arc de Triomphe, you can see the 12 avenues radiating out from the arch and the Paris cityscape spread out around you. You reach the terrace by climbing 284 steps.

The Arc de Triomphe is a Neoclassical take on the ancient Roman triumphal arch, commissioned by Napoleon after his victory at Austerlitz. It took 30 years to complete, and Napoleon never saw it finished. Look for the relief sculptures at the base of the four pillars, the frieze of soldiers around the top, and the names of 128 battles and 558 generals.
Beneath the arch lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring the 1.3 million French soldiers who died in World War I. The Unknown Soldier was buried here in 1921, and the eternal flame is rekindled every evening at 18:30.

On the upper level, displays and models explain the symbolic importance of the monument. Take a look before climbing the final stairs to the terrace or after coming back down.
※ Last admission is 45 minutes before closing.
※ The arch stands in the middle of a roundabout, so do not cross the road; use the underground walkway.
