designed by I.M. Pei
Founded in 1960, Suzhou Museum moved in 2006 into a new building designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei. The building reinterprets Suzhou’s classic white walls and grey-tiled roofs in granite and glass, and respects the surrounding historic architecture such as the Humble Administrator’s Garden and Prince Zhong’s Mansion through its height and scale. With entry guaranteed for your selected time slot, you can skip the ticket line.
Discover Wu-region treasures
in sunlit galleries

Geometric glass-and-steel skylights fill the galleries with soft daylight, creating the perfect setting for a collection of over 25,000 artifacts reflecting the history and craftsmanship of the Wu region. See the Pearl Relic Pillar (真珠舍利宝幢), a Song dynasty masterpiece that is banned from overseas exhibition, along with Tang, Song and Ming ceramics and the celebrated “secret-color” celadon lotus bowl.
Stroll the ink-painting-like museum garden

Set against white walls, the garden of rocks and still water is inspired by the works of Song dynasty painter Mi Fu, like a three-dimensional ink-wash painting. Your ticket gives access to all permanent galleries, the museum garden and public areas.
※ Temporary and special exhibitions are not included.
