This was a great trip, although it was cold and rainy at Seoraksan. Our hike to Ulsanbawi was abandoned due to the weather, but we did make it to the final set of steps in thick, low clouds. The foggy, rainy conditions provided a mysterious beauty not soon forgotten. The next segment to Sokcho was fun as well, exploring the market and it's contents, and the final visit to the seaside.

Our guide, Kangwon Seo, was amazing! He was so patient with our group's inquisitive questions. He provided us with tips and recommendations for hiking, food and even alternative viewpoints when the weather turned foggy. He was very generous in sharing stories about life in south korea. Seoraksan National Park was absolutely beautiful. We went in November with the autumnal colors in bloom but I think it's worth goint anytime of the year. It is a bit of a drive from Seoul but worth it.

Highlights

This group tour departs from Hongik Univ. Station or Myeongdong Station in Seoul and covers Seoraksan National Park and Sokcho in Gangwon Province in a single day. Travel comfortably by bus to two places that are hard to reach in one trip by public transportation. At Seoraksan, you have about 5 hours of free time to walk or hike and visit the Great Unification Buddha statue and Sinheungsa Temple, with an optional cable car ride. Then taste street food and seafood at Sokcho Tourist Fish Market and enjoy the sea views at Sokcho Beach.

Program

Walk and hike freely
in Seoraksan National Park

In the morning, meet at Hongik Univ. Station or Myeongdong Station and travel by bus for about 2.5 hours to Seoraksan National Park. On arrival, enjoy about 5 hours of free time to walk or hike and take in the scenery of Seoraksan. You can also feel the atmosphere of a Korean temple at the giant Great Unification Buddha statue and Sinheungsa Temple.

Look over Seoraksan from the cable car

The Seoraksan cable car is optional (about 1 hour). The cable car ticket is included only if you added this option; otherwise it is not included.

Taste street food and seafood
at Sokcho Tourist Fish Market

After a 30-minute bus ride, spend about 75 minutes exploring Sokcho Tourist Fish Market and freely tasting street food and seafood. Meals and drinks are at your own expense.

See the sea at Sokcho Beach and return to Seoul

Stroll along Sokcho Beach, about 15 minutes from the market, for about 30 minutes. Then return to Seoul by bus, where the tour ends near Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station or Myeongdong Station.
