Wada Sapporo, Hokkaido - Michelin 1 Star

Dining at Wada in Sapporo was such a refined and memorable experience. I booked it while searching for Michelin-starred places in Hokkaido, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation. The dishes were beautifully presented, seasonal, and perfectly balanced — especially the seafood course, which was incredibly fresh.



The restaurant itself is small and intimate, with a calm atmosphere that made the whole meal feel very personal. The chef was kind and even tried to explain some dishes in simple English. It’s not flashy, but quietly excellent.

Definitely one of the culinary highlights of my Hokkaido trip!

For about two and a half hours, the service and food quality were very satisfactory. There were a total of 7 customers including me during the time I visited, and the store atmosphere was very quiet and neat. It took a while for the food to come out and the next food to come out, but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. The drinks weren't very diverse. It's near the Maruyama Park subway station, and if you have time, you can go to the store while walking around Maruyama Park.

The Michelin sushi restaurant I was most looking forward to during this Sapporo trip ❤️ I made a reservation and visited, and although the restaurant is not large, it is a typical Japanese-style restaurant! I think the chef's name is Wada, and he is a quiet and serious person. What was especially surprising was the temperature control between the foods. The rice was warm, and the fish was just the right amount of cold, so the balance that spread when you put it in one bite was crazy. Even as I write this review, it is a Sapporo restaurant that I want to visit again. I definitely recommend you go!
