Otaru Tenguyama Ropeway Round-Trip Ticket

The view from Otaru Tenguyama is one of the three major night views of Hokkaido, along with Hakodateyama and Sapporo's Moiwayama. This mountain, which received one star in the Michelin Green Guide, attracts many tourists every year because you can see the beautiful night view of Otaru. The Otaru Tenguyama Cable Car can accommodate 30 people and takes approximately 4 minutes to travel the entire distance of 735m from the foot of the mountain to the summit. The cable car departs every 12 minutes.

Enjoy a beautiful trip with the city streets of Otaru and the Sea of Japan unfolding before your eyes. After descending from the summit, explore various attractions at Tenguyama Shrine and enjoy various activities such as riding a sled down the 400m course from the Tenguyama slide to the lawn!

How to get to Otaru Observatory from Sapporo

Most people travel by train to get from Sapporo to the Otaru Observatory Ropeway. 

Available trains :
Hakodate Main Line, Rapid Airport

Of these, Rapid Airport is more recommended. Take the Rapid Airport train bound for Otaru from Sapporo, and the journey takes about 40 minutes. When you arrive at the station, take the Tenguyama bus from platform 4. After about 20 minutes, you will arrive at the Tenguyama Ropeway at the last stop.

What to do at Tenguyama Observatory?

When you take the ropeway to Tenguyama Observatory, the first place I recommend is the Tengu Cafe at the top. The entire cafe is made of windows, so you can enjoy food and drinks while looking at the picturesque scenery. Another attraction at the summit! The Tengunoyakata Museum, which exhibits items related to Tengu goblins collected from all over Japan, is also worth visiting.

From mid-May to mid-October, you can ride the 400m long Tenguyama slide.
