People become one with art by immersing themselves in and influencing the great art together with others. Through experiences that transcend the boundaries between the body and the work, humans redefine their perception of the boundaries between themselves and the world and recognize the continuity between humans and the world. Immerse yourself in a complex and three-dimensional world, create a world with others, and become one with that world.

This is an explanation of the show that provides a good insight into teamLab’s sense of purpose. We can enter a large work of art with others and experience the distinction between the work and ourselves being broken down and becoming one with the art.

Introducing teamlab

Since its launch in Tokyo in 2001, teamLab exhibitions have become well-known in cities around the world and have become the most popular check-in locations. The international art collective teamLab is a multidisciplinary group of artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects who call themselves "hyper-technologists". teamLab creates works using digital technology.

From now on, I will introduce you to various themes.

Flower Animals, Symbiosis II

Flowers grow on the bodies of animals. Flowers bud, bloom, scatter and disappear. When people touch the animals, the flowers scatter, and when all the flowers scatter, the animals disappear.

The space is filled with freely floating spheres of light. People move through the sphere and enter space. When people pass by or hit the sphere, the color changes and that color resonates. The spheres around that sphere change their hue and in turn resonate the color in three dimensions to nearby spheres. Although each sphere moves freely, the movement of light occurs throughout space. Light acts as a group and a sphere acts as a point.

A huge life that proliferates

The growth cycle of a flower repeats forever. If too many flowers bloom, they scatter and wither all at once. When people touch it, the petals scatter and fall.

Reversible Rotation - Black in White

Our current space calligraphy rotates in the space of the work, with all sides rotating in the same direction. However, due to the special nature of hyper-subjective space, it may appear to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, and the direction of rotation may appear different depending on the person. Isn’t it amazing?

It's a slide where fruit grows. Various types of fruits grow on the slopes and balls are also bouncing. You become sunlight and slide down the slope. When your body collides with the ball, solar energy is transferred to the ball and it flies in all directions. When the ball collides with the fruit, the fruit starts to grow. Each ball has a different role depending on its color. The bright blue ball represents water. When this ball meets a seed, it sprouts and a flower blooms. When the yellow bee ball touches the flower, the flower is pollinated and the flower becomes fruit. If you hit the fruit with a ball, new seeds will be sown, leading to new life.

Life is a light that resonates in the darkness

When people stop and touch the tree, the color of the light on the tree changes. The color of the light spreads to nearby trees and animals. As it continues, the color of the light of life changes. Touch the animals to see if they react.

The artwork is not a pre-recorded image that is played back, but is created by a computer program that continuously renders the artwork in real time. The interaction between people and the installation causes continuous changes in the work, so that the visual state that has already occurred before can never be replicated or occur again. Photos of moments once passed can never be seen again, making every moment even more special!

The theme introduced earlier is not even half of the entire exhibition! Experience a variety of spaces and brag about them on social media. Regardless of gender or age, everyone is bound to like it.

Editor's reason for recommendation

What's special is that you can experience a 'body immersive' exhibition that you can't easily experience. Above all, the editor was impressed by the fact that a pattern once passed cannot be recreated due to the continuously changing nature of the work. I don’t think there is yet an exhibition that is as technologically advanced as teamLab!

It is an exhibition that is receiving rave reviews from all over the world, but since it is only held in limited areas, the on-site reservation lines are huge. How about booking a date and time in advance and enjoying it at a cheaper price than on-site?
