Host and instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. Creating these type of tasty food dishes was exactly what we wanted to learn. The instructor provided all the necessary ingredients and cooking tools necessary for the course. We will like to take another cooking class with this instructor if offered for other food dishes.

Join an izakaya-style cooking class in Iriya, Tokyo, inspired by Japanese home drinking culture. Make Japanese home dishes that pair well with drinks, such as sushi hand rolls, wagyu or tofu steak and Japanese rolled omelet, together with a local instructor. Taste your dishes with sake, Japanese beer or other drinks and discover which drink suits each dish. With a maximum of 6 participants, you can interact closely with the instructor, and you take the recipes home to recreate the dishes.

Experience Japanese home drinking culture
through izakaya-style dishes

Meet your local guide near Iriya Station to start the class. Izakaya-style dining is all about enjoying a variety of small dishes that go well with drinks. Enjoy cooking with a drink in hand in the spirit of a traditional Japanese nomikai (drinking party).

Cook Japanese home dishes that pair with drinks

Make sushi hand rolls, wagyu or tofu steak, Japanese rolled omelet and grilled eggplant with miso sauce. The dishes use ingredients that are easy to find in Japan, so they are easy to recreate at home, and you take the recipes with you. Both experienced cooks and complete beginners can enjoy the class.

Find the perfect drink for each dish

Taste your dishes with sake, Japanese beer or other drinks and discover the best pairing for each one. Three cans of alcoholic or soft drinks are included, and you also learn about home drinking culture in Japan.

An evening everyone can enjoy

This evening class is great for couples and friends, as well as solo travelers who want to meet new people. A kids' playroom is available for families, and you also receive photos taken during the class.
