So much fun, very engaging, educational too. The staff and wrestlers were excellent with plenty of humour involved. Well worth a visit. 😄

It was very pleasant

魅力ポイント

Watch active or retired professional sumo wrestlers up close in Ryogoku, the heart of sumo. With commentary from an English-speaking MC, see traditional rituals such as shiko (foot stomping) and salt throwing, then watch full-contact sparring right in front of you. Volunteers can step into the ring for a light-hearted challenge against a wrestler. The roughly one-hour experience ends with a Q&A session and souvenir photos alongside the wrestlers.

プログラム

Start the sumo show in Ryogoku
with a welcome drink

When you arrive at the venue in Ryogoku, the historic home of sumo, an English-speaking MC welcomes you with a refreshing drink. The MC guides the event from start to finish, explaining the history, rules and rituals of sumo in English.

See traditional rituals and sparring up close

Active or retired professional wrestlers demonstrate traditional rituals, from thunderous shiko foot stomps to the purifying salt throw. During the live full-contact sparring matches, feel the power and hear the impact as the wrestlers clash right in front of you.

Step into the ring and challenge a wrestler

This isn't just a show to watch but an experience to join. Volunteers can step into the ring for a fun, light-hearted match against a sumo wrestler.

Finish with a Q&A and souvenir photos

Finally, ask your questions during the Q&A session and take souvenir photos standing next to the wrestlers in the ring.

※ Only volunteers take part in the ring challenge.
