Got to see four freshwater crocodiles and a number of turtles. Guide was very interesting and whole trip was great value for money. Would recommend.

All explanations were in English, so as someone not very proficient in English, I only understood a fraction of what was explained, but I was still able to enjoy listening to the talk! I also saw turtles and crocodiles basking in the sun. It was worth coming to see them in their natural habitat.

The river is home to freshwater crocodiles, turtles, snakes, water dragons, fish and more than 100 species of tropical birds, so there is plenty of wildlife to look out for. Cruise along the Barron River
in Kuranda for 45 minutes

Board the riverboat at the Barron River jetty below Kuranda Railway Station and spend 45 minutes cruising slowly on calm water. Your local guide shares stories in English about Kuranda's history and the animals, reptiles and birds of Tropical North Queensland.

Look for freshwater crocodiles and tropical wildlife

The Barron River is home to freshwater crocodiles (Crocodylus johnstoni), turtles, snakes, water dragons, fish and more than 100 species of tropical birds. With some luck, you may even spot a cassowary on the opposite bank.

Take photos against a rainforest backdrop

Throughout the cruise, you can take photos of the rainforest lining the river and its wildlife. The boat moves slowly on calm water, making it a great outing for all ages.

※ Wildlife lives in its natural habitat, so sightings of freshwater crocodiles and other animals are not guaranteed.
※ All tours are subject to seasonal river conditions.
