Hakone-en Aquarium: Closest to the Sky in Nature. Located by Lake Ashinoko at an altitude of 723m, Hakone-en Aquarium is a special aquarium situated at the highest point in Japan. The Seawater Tank is an outdoor mega-tank with a height of 7m. At Hakone-en Aquarium, you can see 450 species and 32,000 fish from around the world. Outside the aquarium building, you can also enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Fuji and the beautiful Lake Ashinoko from a high altitude.

Baikal seals are rare freshwater seals that only inhabit Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia. Hakone-en Aquarium is one of the few places in Japan where you can see these seals. Baikal seals are famous as photo spots thanks to their round, big eyes and cute appearance. Weekdays at 1:45 PM, weekends and holidays at 10:15 AM and 1:45 PM! At these times, divers enter the water to give food to countless fish in a fantastic underwater show. The spectacle of shimmering schools of fish flocking towards the food in the clear tank gives you the feeling of being in the middle of the ocean.
