2026 Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights: The Ultimate Guide

As the sun sets, it transforms into a massive horror movie set.

While Universal Studios Hollywood by day is a theme park where you can enjoy worlds from the movies, Universal by autumn night is a bit different. As the lights dim and fog begins to roll in, monsters appear all over the streets. Paths you were just walking on normally transform into scare zones, and scenes you've seen in movies and TV shows become massive haunted houses you have to walk through. This is Halloween Horror Nights.

In 2026, it runs on select dates from September 3rd to November 1st. If you're traveling to LA during this time, it's an event worth dedicating an entire evening to.

This Year, Step Into the World of 'Stranger Things'

Headlining the 2026 lineup is Stranger Things. This year's haunted house is themed around Season 5, the final season. You'll navigate familiar locations in Hawkins, encountering supernatural beings like Vecna. It's not just watching the show from outside the screen; you're stepping directly into its world. The fun of Halloween Horror Nights isn't just about how scary the haunted houses are. It's about Universal, the studio behind horror films, bringing beloved movies and TV shows to life by recreating their sets, characters, and scenes in physical spaces and immersing travelers within them.

From Hellraiser to The Black Phone

This year's lineup is particularly strong. Clive Barker's iconic horror universe, Hellraiser, makes its debut at Halloween Horror Nights, and Ryan Coogler's film The Black Phone is also being transformed into a haunted house. Additionally, fans can look forward to Evil Dead Rise and Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, a terrifying reinterpretation of the heavy metal legend's world. Each zone isn't just about placing a few characters; it's designed to guide you through a narrative using the film's locations, music, lighting, and special effects. Horror movie fans will find joy in recognizing scenes from their favorite films, while even those less familiar can appreciate the overwhelming, immersive environments created by the theme park.

Horror Exclusive to Hollywood

Halloween Horror Nights in LA also features a lineup unique to Universal Studios Hollywood. This year includes the cult horror film Killer Klowns from Outer Space, an original house KILLceañera: Music by SLASH featuring SLASH's music, and Dead, Deader, Deadest. However, the most anticipated attraction is Terror Tram: Terrifier.

This is Not a Standard Park Ticket

It's crucial to understand this: Halloween Horror Nights is an event operated separately from Universal Studios Hollywood's regular park admission. HHN general admission tickets do not include daytime park entry. If you plan to enjoy the park during the day and then experience Halloween Horror Nights, you must carefully check the scope of the ticket you purchase.

Therefore, when planning your LA itinerary, it's recommended to schedule Halloween Horror Nights as a distinct evening activity rather than simply marking it as a 'Universal Studios visit' day.
