Meet your guide at a designated pickup location in Levi and ride a minivan for about 15 minutes into the Lapland forest. On the way you pass snowy forests and frozen lakes, and with luck you may see wildlife moving through the trees.

The experience takes place at Rautusjärvi, a lake surrounded by forest. Far from city lights, it is a great spot to enjoy the northern lights, the moon and a sky full of stars. If you like, put on the snowshoes provided and walk on the frozen lake.

Stories by the campfire and photography tips

While waiting for the northern lights, the guide shares local stories and legends about the sky. Enjoy hot drinks and grilled sausages in a cosy campfire shelter, and learn step by step how to use the telescope and how to photograph the moon and stars with your phone using a simple app.

Watch and capture the northern lights

When the northern lights appear, you can see curtains of green light, sometimes mixed with pink or purple, moving across the sky. You can take photos with your own phone, and the guide sends photos taken with a professional camera within 2 days after the tour.

Observe the moon, stars and planets through a telescope

If the sky is clear, you observe the moon's surface, countless stars and even nearby planets through the telescope. Even if the northern lights do not appear, you can enjoy telescope stargazing under the starry Arctic sky. After the tour, you are taken back to your starting point.
