From Sanur: Nusa Penida Manta Snorkeling & Lembongan Mangrove Tour

Fast boat from Sanur to Lembongan
and snorkel with manta rays off Nusa Penida

This full-day tour takes you by fast boat from Sanur Harbour to Nusa Lembongan to snorkel at three spots around Nusa Penida and Lembongan. The route focuses on spots where you can meet manta rays, with an English and Indonesian-speaking guide.

Depending on your option, add a buffet lunch with a mangrove kayak or stand-up paddleboard tour, or a 30-minute massage. Meet directly at Sanur Harbour or choose a hotel pickup option.

Arrive in Nusa Lembongan by large fast boat

Board a large aluminium ferry at Sanur Harbour and cross to Nusa Lembongan in about 40 minutes. The large boat rocks less than regular-sized boats. On arrival, enjoy a welcome drink and light snack at the operator's base at Mesari Beach Restaurant before boarding the snorkeling boat.

Swim with manta rays at Manta Bay

A speedboat takes you to plankton-rich spots such as Manta Bay or Manta Point, where gentle manta rays gather; some have wingspans of up to 4-5 m. According to the itinerary, you will snorkel for about 30 minutes each at Manta Bay, Gamat Bay and Mangrove Point, which may change to Crystal Bay or Toyapakeh depending on conditions.

The operator monitors Indian Ocean swells and sea conditions and only swims with the rays when it is safe to do so in shallow water (within 1.5 m of the surface). If conditions are not suitable, the snorkeling schedule is changed to a safer alternative.

Lunch and kayaking beside the mangroves

With lunch options, you return to Nusa Lembongan for an Indonesian buffet lunch right next to the mangrove forest. In the afternoon, depending on your option, glide through calm mangrove channels by kayak or stand-up paddleboard at Green Lagoon, or enjoy a 30-minute back or foot massage at nearby Karuna Island Spa. Afterwards, the fast boat takes you back to Sanur Harbour.
