This full-day trek from Sapa town follows a quiet highland ridge linking the villages of Sa Seng, Hang Da and Hau Thao. Climb toward the top of Sa Seng mountain to see scenery above the clouds and sweeping panoramas of Mount Fansipan and the Muong Hoa Valley. With a local Hmong guide, leave the crowded tourist routes behind, pass through ethnic minority villages and enjoy a lunch of local dishes at a local restaurant. Groups are limited to 12 people, and you return to Sapa town by vehicle after the trek.
Program
Walk Sapa's ridges with a Hmong guide
and take in Fansipan and the Muong Hoa Valley
This trek of about 7 hours starts at the Cherry Sapa Hotel in Sapa town, where you meet your local Hmong guide. Walk the highland ridge through Sa Seng, Hang Da and Hau Thao villages and enjoy the clouds and valley views. Lunch, bottled water, entrance fees and a one-way vehicle from Hau Thao back to Sapa are included. Groups have a maximum of 12 people.
Start the ridge hike in Sa Seng village
Spend about 2 hours hiking up around Sa Seng village, passing landmarks and scenic viewpoints along the way. These quiet highland trails are far from the busy tourist routes, and on days when the clouds sit low it can feel like walking above the clouds.
Enjoy Hmong village life and lunch in Hang Da
Spend about 3 hours in Hang Da village, walking around and taking photos. Your guide shares Hmong culture and ways of life, and you enjoy a set-menu lunch of local dishes at a local restaurant.
Take in the valley panorama from Hau Thao viewpoint
Finally, relax for about 2 hours at the Hau Thao viewpoint, enjoying views of the Muong Hoa Valley and surrounding mountains and taking photos at your own pace. After the trek, return from Hau Thao to Sapa town by vehicle.
