Take the ferry from Cairns
to Fitzroy Island
Board the ferry departing Cairns Marina at 08:30 or 10:45 and cross the clear waters to reach Fitzroy Island in about 45 minutes. The afternoon before departure, you will receive a text message with your berth number, vessel and a map link to the correct location.
Enjoy up to 6 hours of free time on the island
Snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef's coral gardens to look for clownfish and sea turtles, walk the rainforest trails or climb to the summit for views over the Coral Sea. You can also visit the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre or relax on a secluded beach. Island activities such as the glass-bottom boat or kayaking can be added as you wish.
Have lunch and return to Cairns in the afternoon
With the lunch option, enjoy a meal at the island's restaurant. Please specify a hot or cold lunch (sandwich and wrap) when booking; if no preference is given, you will receive the cold option. Without lunch, you can bring your own picnic to enjoy on the beach. The ferry departs Fitzroy at 16:00 and arrives in Cairns at around 16:45 (a 14:15 departure may be available on the day).
