This is a hands-on masterclass of about 3 hours at Core Urban Distillery in Rome's Mandrione district. Designed for anyone curious about the science and creativity behind craft spirits, the workshop is led from start to finish by a Master Distiller.

Learn the history of distillation and how to combine botanicals

The class starts with a theoretical and sensory introduction by the Master Distiller. You learn about the history of distillation, the raw materials and how a still works, how to tell different botanicals apart, and how to balance aromas into a harmonious flavor profile.

Distill your own gin on your own still

Next comes the hands-on part. Each participant uses a still and picks spices, herbs and berries from a wide range of high-quality botanicals to create a personal recipe. You follow the distillation closely and analyze the heads, hearts and tails cuts to extract the best part of the spirit.

Taste, bottle and take it home

At the end of the course, a final tasting lets you compare creations and ask any questions about blending. Finally, you bottle and label your own spirit and take it home as a keepsake.
