This day tour departs from Calgary, Canmore or Banff and follows the Icefields Parkway to seasonal highlights of the Rockies. Program
Depart from Calgary, Canmore or Banff
and drive the Icefields Parkway
Depart from designated pickup points in Calgary, Canmore or Banff in an air-conditioned vehicle. Pass Cascade Mountain, Castle Mountain and Vermilion Lakes, then head north along the Icefields Parkway surrounded by snowy peaks. A national park pass is included, and your professional guide also takes free souvenir photos.
In summer, see Crowfoot Glacier,
Bow Lake and Peyto Lake
On the summer itinerary (May 1 to October 12, subject to weather), see Crowfoot Glacier, carved by nature over thousands of years, and stop at turquoise Bow Lake. Then walk the trail to the Peyto Lake viewpoint for panoramic views and photos.
Explore the Columbia Icefield at a relaxed pace
In the afternoon, spend about 3.5 hours at the Columbia Icefield, one of North America's best-known icefields, enjoying the alpine scenery. If you wish, you can join the Columbia Icefield Adventure with the Snow Coach (Ice Explorer) and Skywalk (tickets extra). To pre-purchase tickets, let the operator know as early as possible before the tour; otherwise tickets can only be bought on site and availability is not guaranteed.
In winter, see the ice bubbles of Abraham Lake
and Lake Louise
The winter itinerary (October 12 to April 30) heads north from Banff along the Icefields Parkway, starting with Abraham Lake. From December 1 to March 31, weather permitting, see the famous ice bubbles and walk on the ice with free snowshoe rental. Outside this period, the tour visits Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls instead of Abraham Lake.
Next, take a short walk to the snowy Peyto Lake viewpoint for photos, and on the way back to Banff stop at Lake Louise to walk on the frozen lake or admire Victoria Glacier.
