Highlights
If you're traveling to Budapest for the first time, this walking tour is a great way to quickly understand the entire city. For about 3 hours, you'll explore key landmarks in both Buda and Pest, including St. Stephen's Basilica, Hungarian Parliament Building, Buda Castle, Royal Palace, Fisherman's Bastion, and Matthias Church, with a local guide. You won't just see landmarks; you'll hear about Hungary's history, contemporary Budapest culture, and daily life from a local's perspective.
Program
Meet Buda and Pest in 3 Hours
Meet your guide in front of St. Stephen's Basilica and begin your journey in the Pest side. After exploring the Basilica and its square, head towards the Danube River to see iconic Budapest views, including the Hungarian Parliament Building. The tour is mostly on foot, with some use of public transport to move from Pest to Buda. Experience both areas in about 3 hours to naturally familiarize yourself with Budapest's geography and major attractions.
Explore Key Landmarks in the Buda Castle District
In the Buda area, you'll walk through the Castle District, visiting major sites like Buda Castle, the Royal Palace, Matthias Fountain, Presidential Palace, Fisherman's Bastion, and Matthias Church. From the elevated vantage points, enjoy panoramic views of Budapest, with the Danube River and Pest side unfolding before you. Your guide will share stories about Hungary's history, architecture, and the evolution of the monarchy and the city. The tour concludes in the Buda Castle District, near Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion.
