A Special Space Where Nature and Art Harmonize: The Nitori Museum of Art
The Nitori Museum of Art, where you can feel the harmony of nature and art in the heart of Sapporo, is a complex cultural space established by the Nitori Group. The Nitori Museum of Art is a renovated building of the former Hokkaido Takushoku Bank Otaru Branch, built in 1923. It consists of five floors from the basement to the 4th floor, and the magnificent pillars, arched windows, and marble walls of the bank remain intact, giving you the feeling of traveling through time. It is a museum where you can appreciate a variety of art from modern Japanese painters to European Impressionist paintings, sculptures, and design art, and is loved by both Sapporo citizens and tourists alike.
The Diversity of Art – Harmony of Japanese and Western Art

The exhibition composition of the Nitori Museum of Art covers eras and genres. On the 4th floor, works by modern Japanese painters such as Yokoyama Taikan and Kawai Gyokudo are exhibited, and the 3rd floor mainly features works in which Japanese painters adopted Western painting techniques. The 2nd floor features sculptures and decorative arts, as well as a collection of crafts dealing with light and form, including some glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
