A Unique Museum in Amsterdam's Canal District
Discover the Amsterdam Our Lord in the Attic Museum, once a clandestine Catholic church and now an intriguing museum. In the 17th century, a wealthy Catholic merchant, Jan Hartman, converted his attic into a secret church. From the outside, it appears to be an ordinary house, but inside, it retains the characteristics of a hidden church.

A Hidden Space,
Our Lord in the Attic Museum
Visit the unique historical site, Our Lord in the Attic Museum, located in the heart of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It provides a glimpse into the religious and social history of the 17th-century Netherlands. It was a place for Catholics who were officially deprived of religious freedom due to the Dutch Reformation in the 16th century. A chapel was created in the attic of a wealthy merchant, and worship actually took place there until the mid-19th century.
As you can see in the picture, it looks like an ordinary canal house from the outside, but when you enter, a cozy church space unfolds!
Inside Highlights

The exterior of the museum looks like a typical 17th-century Amsterdam canal house, but inside there is a hidden church. It is a small chapel, designed to seat up to 150 people. The altar in the center is decorated in a beautiful Baroque style, and you can admire the sculptures of the Virgin Mary and the saints. In addition to the attic, you can also explore a small room for clergy and a worship preparation room.
The ticket also includes an audio guide for a richer experience.
