An immersive exhibition that delves into the world of Katsushika Hokusai, a master of ukiyo-e who was active during the Edo period, is being held in Tokyo. Hokusai left a deep impression on the Japanese and Western art worlds with his unique style and diverse works, including “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.” He is well known as a figure who influenced and inspired world-renowned artists such as Van Gogh and Monet.
This is being held for a limited time at Tokyu Plaza Shibuya in Tokyo, so come visit and experience Hokusai’s artistic world for yourself!

This special exhibition, which will be held at Shibuya Tokyu Plaza from February 1 to June 1, 2025, will allow you to vividly experience the Edo landscapes depicted by Hokusai through the light, wind, earth, and sound of his representative works. It will provide an immersive and moving experience as if you have time-slipped to the streets of the Edo period and entered Hokusai's works, so please spend a special time at this immersive exhibition combined with digital art.
Exhibition Highlights
Prologue : Hokusai, the legendary artist who never put down his brush until he was 90 and left behind over 30,000 works of art, is more than just a simple ukiyo-e artist; he is a genius who transcends time and genre and is constantly being reexamined even in modern times. In the prologue, you can discover the multifaceted and surprising aspects of him hidden behind his gorgeous ukiyo-e and meet the little-known true face of Hokusai.
Room of Light : This is a space where you can see Hokusai's masterpiece, Thirty-six Views of Fugaku, brought to life by light. The combination of light objects that gently sway like candles and digitalized, high-resolution images will present a new, never-before-seen view of Thirty-six Views of Fugaku.
Hokusai's World : Experience the world as Hokusai saw it, with cutting-edge technologies such as high-definition images, 3D sound, wind, and vibration!
