Introducing how to exchange your JR Hokkaido Rail Pass
The JR Hokkaido Rail Pass purchased through WAUG is an exchange voucher that needs to be converted into an actual ticket upon arrival. The main exchange locations are the JR Foreign Language Service Desk at Sapporo Station and the JR Foreign Language Service Desk at New Chitose Airport Station. Over 75% of travelers exchange their passes at the New Chitose Airport Station desk. While not always staffed, personnel who can assist in Korean, English, and Chinese are available to handle exchanges for the Hokkaido Rail Pass and various other passes.

What are the advantages of the JR Hokkaido Rail Pass?
The Hokkaido Rail Pass is essentially a combination of the Sapporo-Noboribetsu Area Pass and the Sapporo-Furano Area Pass, allowing you to travel freely throughout Hokkaido, from Noboribetsu to Furano and Biei, for 10 days. Not only can you use all JR trains, but you can also explore the entire Hokkaido region, including New Chitose Airport, Sapporo, Otaru, Noboribetsu, Furano, and Biei.
Unlike area passes, you can use both reserved and non-reserved seats. However, you cannot use the Hokkaido Shinkansen, Donan Isari-bi Railway, streetcars, or subways.
How to reserve a reserved seat
You can use the Ordinary Car Reserved Seats with the Hokkaido Rail Pass (excluding the SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen Train).
How to reserve a reserved seat:
1. Before boarding a reserved seat, you must obtain a reserved seat ticket.
2. Reserve your seat at the station: JR Foreign Language Service Desk, JR Hokkaido Major Station Ticket Counter (Midori-no-Madoguchi), or Reserved Seat Ticket Machine.

How to board
Simply insert your Rail Pass into the automatic ticket gate and pass through. Please be careful not to leave your Rail Pass behind when passing through the automatic ticket gate, as some people occasionally forget it.
