Introducing how to exchange the JR Hokkaido Rail Pass

The JR Hokkaido Rail Pass purchased from WAUG is an exchange voucher that must be exchanged for an actual ticket once on site. The main exchange locations are the JR Foreign Language Information Desk at Sapporo Station and the JR Foreign Language Information Desk at New Chitose Airport Station, but more than 75% of travelers exchange at the JR Foreign Language Information Desk at New Chitose Airport Station. Although they are not resident here, there are staff who can speak Korean, English, and Chinese, and their role is to exchange various passes, including the Hokkaido Rail Pass.

What are the advantages of the JR Hokkaido Rail Pass?

The Hokkaido Rail Pass is a simple combination of the Sapporo-Noboribetsu Area Pass and the Sapporo-Furano Area Pass, and is a pass that can be freely used for 10 days from Noboribetsu to Furano and Biei. The Hokkaido Rail Pass can be used for reserved seats in regular cars (excluding SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen Train).

How to reserve a reserved seat:
1. When boarding a reserved seat, you must receive a reserved seat ticket before boarding.
2. Apply for reserved seats at the station: JR Information Foreign Language Information Desk, ticket counter at major JR Hokkaido stations (Midori no Madoguchi), or reserved seat vending machines.

Here's how to ride

Just insert your rail pass ticket into the automatic ticket gate and pass through. However, please be careful not to leave your rail pass behind when going through the automatic ticket gate! Sometimes, there are people who leave it behind.
