The Royal Palace of Amsterdam has a history of over 200 years. It's hard to believe that this palace, with its small and simple exterior, is still in use today. The Dutch royal family values dialogue with the people rather than authority, creating a comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere. This building is also famous for 'recycling' a building originally built as a city hall.
The interior is more splendid than the exterior, so it's a great place to visit at least once.

Classic Exterior, Splendid Interior

The Royal Palace of Amsterdam, with its thoroughly classical exterior and splendid interior structure, was created by several of the best architects and sculptors of the time.
The walls and roof of the palace were artistically created over a long period of time by leading artists such as Artus Quellinus, a famous sculptor at the time, and Ferdinand Bol and Govert Flinck, Rembrandt's students.
So much money was spent that when the city of Amsterdam needed more funds than the construction budget planned, construction of the New Church (De Nieuwe Kerk), which was being built at the same time, was temporarily suspended.
After all this effort, it was completed in 1665.
Symbol of Dutch Classicist Architecture

The Royal Palace of Amsterdam in the Netherlands is a symbol of 17th-century Dutch classicist architecture and has served as the political center of Amsterdam and the Netherlands for nearly 200 years. When the Netherlands was occupied by France, Louis Napoleon, the brother of Emperor Napoleon, used it as a palace, and many of the luxurious furniture and decorations were brought in during the Napoleonic occupation.
