Located within Ciutadella Park, the Barcelona Zoo prioritizes animal welfare and conservation. It actively engages in various programs and research aimed at protecting endangered species. Operated by the City of Barcelona

The Barcelona Zoo was donated by Lluis Marti and is directly managed by the city. Spanning approximately 130,000 square meters, it is home to over 4,000 animals from more than 400 species. Notably, it was the first zoo in Barcelona to establish an African enclosure, featuring giraffes, hippos, rhinos, and zebras. The area, separated by deep moats and featuring an artificial waterfall to accommodate various water birds, offers a diverse range of animals to admire.

From Big Cats to Rare Species

The Barcelona Zoo boasts a wide array of animals, from formidable predators to rare species. Focused on three core themes—information, research, and the conservation of endangered animals—the zoo is home to over 400 species, including descendants of the albino gorilla Snowflake, dolphins, tropical birds, and reptiles.
